Description

For the last twelve years, Kenna has photographed most of the camps of the Third Reich. The result of this long, thorough and demanding enterprise, is a collection of several thousand negatives – a true cartography of Nazi concentration camps – amongst which he has chosen three hundred photographs, all perfectly consistent with the aestheticism he is known for: early morning light, strong atmosphere, perfect framing, meticulous printing…
Clement Cheroux

Kenna remembered the worst that humans were capable of. Knowing that a work of art can be an invitation to meditation, he went to the concentration camps to photograph what they had become: sites of contemplation. He could not turn this page of history without recalling the abominations that had been perpetrated so outrageously and in such an incandescent manner that it touched men and women who were not yet born. His images ask us to keep our eyes open, to combat violence and to stay calm.
Pierre Borhan
